Call for workshop proposals

We are pleased to announce the Call for Workshops for the 3rd edition of the conference “Languages and Language at the Crossroads of Disciplines” (LLcD), organized within the CNRS Thematic Network LLcD, which will take place at Aix-Marseille University from 14 to 16 December 2026.

We invite proposals for workshops addressing all subfields of linguistics, covering a wide range of languages and adopting diverse approaches (descriptive, theoretical, empirical, interdisciplinary, etc.), with the aim of fostering diversity across disciplines and methodologies. The theme highlighted for this edition is “Speaking Minds: Empirical Approaches to Language(s) and Speech”. However, proposals are not required to be explicitly linked to the conference theme.

Each workshop will consist of 30-minute time slots and must include at least 5 presentations. An additional poster session common to all workshops will be organized. The working languages of the conference will be English and French.

Guidelines for Workshop Proposal Submissions

Workshop proposals should be submitted as PDF documents via the link https://llcd2026.sciencesconf.org/submission and include the following information:

  1. Workshop title and five keywords.
  2. Names, affiliations, and email addresses of the workshop organizers.
  3. Workshop description summarizing (i) the subject, (ii) the state of the art, (iii) the research questions, (iv) objectives, and (v) the relevant (sub-)discipline(s), accompanied by a bibliography (between 500 and 1,000 words, excluding references).

Optionally, the proposal may also include:

  1. Short abstracts (around 300 words) and non-anonymous submissions of presentations proposed for the workshop. [If the workshop is accepted, these abstracts must be resubmitted anonymously as part of the general call for submissions and will undergo the same review process as other abstracts.]
  2. Names of any invited speakers. [Please note that LLcD will not cover travel or registration fees.]

The review of proposals will take into account, among other factors, the interest and originality of the theme and objectives, as well as their feasibility in the LLcD Conference format with at least 5 presentations. While not required for selection, proposals that are innovative and interdisciplinary will also be considered favorably. Each workshop is required to be conducted in a single language, either French or English.

Review Procedure

  • Workshop proposals will be reviewed by the LLcD Scientific Committee, with final inclusion in the conference program decided in collaboration with the conference co-chairs.
  • Individual submissions will be reviewed by three reviewers from the LLcD Scientific Committee, with the possibility of including experts suggested by the workshop organizers.
